Figure 4: Second Surgery - The joint was approached from the lateral aspect cranial to the olecranon process. The fibers of the anconeus muscle were split along their axis, and retracted. The fragment was identified, and removed. Healing of the primary (horizontal) fracture of the olecranon appeared to be complete, and the implant remained in place. This immediately postoperative film taken using s grid shows the smooth edges of the parent portion of the bone (split arrows).
