Schanz Screw Insertion, contd.

Recess in the Disk of the Depth Gauge [3]   Determine Schanz Screw Length:

Insert the probe of the depth gauge through the drill sleeve and hook the far cortex. Loosen and lower the knurled disk to the top of the drill sleeve and tighten the thumb screw.

Remove the depth gauge and place the thread- ed tip of the Schanz screw into the recess in the disk of the depth gauge (see image). Insert the other end of the Schanz screw into the T-handle chuck until the chuck touches the tip of the depth gauge probe. Tighten the chuck on the Schanz screw.
