This 7-year old Warmblood/ Draught cross was being used for dressage when lameness first appeared. Hindlimb flexion was positive on the right, and diagnostic anesthesia performed by injection of a local anesthetic agent into the right distal intertarsal joint was positive. Radiographs showed osteolytic and periosteal proliferative surrounding the affected joint. The third tarsal bone may be somewhat misshapen indicative of an earlier defect in cuboidal bone ossification. (See Figure 1).
