Longterm Outcome Maintenance of normal axis Normal contours and angles of the fetlock/ pastern area are maintained. Corrective shoeing is no longer necessary. Resoloution of lameness By 8 months postoperatively, no lameness is noted and the animal exercises at will at pasture. Resolution of muscle atrophy With increasing exercise, symmetric development of musculature can occur.
