Weakness of suspensory apparatus
Such weakness is the result of a
protracted period of external fixation in a young (=/ < I year) animal.
Dorsiflexion of the pedal joint
Weakness of the flexor tendons leads to the
abnormal position of the digit observed.
Secondary damage
If allowed to exercise at will in this
condition, secondary damage to the proximal sesamoids or suspensory
ligament can occur.
