Indirect reduction and submuscular insertion of stable fixation were used to treat this comminuted subtrochanteric fracture. Maintenance of the fracture hematoma and soft tissue attachments within the comminuted zone allows for rapid formation of callus and consolidation of the fracture. The implant maintains limb length and alignment during healing. The disadvantage of the implant is the relative bulk of the shoulder of the plate proximally, which led to the need to remove the implant in this case.
