Indentify Nail Entry Point

For fractures in the proximal third of the
tibia, it is essential to select an entry site
for the nail which is as superior as
possible and in line with the lateral
intercondylar eminence.
It is important to align the guide wire
with the lateral spine of the tibial
plateau. Hyperflexion of the proximal
fragment assists placement of the nail
as anterior and parallel to the anterior
cortex as possible. The sagittal plane
entry site is critical.
