Inserting the Nail-(continued)

Insert the nail as far as possible by hand using a twisting motion .When using a guide wire, pass the cannulated nail (10 mm-13 mm nails) over the guide wire and into the femoral opening. Monitor nail passage across the fracture under image intensification. The insertion assembly may be used to manipulate the nail across the fracture.

Use light blows of the Slide Hammer on the Connecting Screw until the distal end of the nail is inserted 5-10 mm beyond the articular cartilage. Insertion depth is indicated by the grooves on the barrel of the Insertion Handle.

Note: Do not attach the Aiming Arm to the Insertion Handle until the nail is fully inserted. The Aiming Arm may loosen during nail insertion.
