AO North America and Health Volunteers Overseas
For the past three years AO North America has elected to provide annual financial support to the Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) organization. Health Volunteers Overseas is a private, non-profit volunteer organization with the goal of fostering long-term improvements in the quality and availability of health care in developing countries through training and education. HVO's surgeons and allied health care volunteers travel to developing countries to educate and train local medical staff in an effort to elevate the quality of care for the general population in the area. The largest specialty section of Health Volunteers Overseas is Orthopaedic Overseas, which has more than 700 active members. Another active section is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Overseas. We encourage AONA members to consider joining this very worthwhile organization.
