AO North America John Border Memorial European Trauma Fellowship
AO North America and AO International have established an annual trauma fellowship in memory of John Border. The successful candidate must have completed his or her final year of surgical residency in North America prior to taking the fellowship and be within one year of completion of a trauma fellowship following his/her formal training. The candidate must also have an academic surgical appointment upon completion of this fellowship. The fellowship consists of round-trip travel expenses and a stipend to support living expenses at the fellowship site.
Recipient of the 1999 John Border fellowship was Dr. Thomas Ellis from Minneapolis, who last summer spent four weeks with Prof. Harold Tscherne in Hannover, Germany, and six weeks with Prof. Reinhold Ganz in Bern, Switzerland. Guidelines and applications are available from the AO North America office. The deadline for completed applications is December 1, 2000.
