OPERATING ROOM PERSONNEL COURSES
The Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO ASIF) was
originally conceived in Switzerland in the 1950's by four
surgeons - Martin Allgöwer, Maurice E. Müller, Robert Schneider and
Hans Willenegger - who realized that conventional methods of fracture treatment often led to poor
results. The efforts of these surgeons resulted in the development of principles and techniques that have
revolutionized skeletal surgery and have saved countless patients from disability and fracture
disease. From the beginning, the founding members recognized the importance of training for surgeons and operating room personnel so that the techniques and implant systems were applied correctly. Comprehensive training courses for orthopaedic, spine and maxillofacial surgeons and O.R. personnel continue today. The AO ASIF educational activities for North America are listed here.
